Whats up babies
I’ve landed in New Orleans for the time being :*0 I’m opening my books for tattooing, so if you’d like one, please send me an email (gentlepokes.booking@gmail.com) with your availability, budget, flash/custom idea. I’ve got availability this week + weekend, beginning of next week, and then Early Feb too. I’ll put my new drawings + found img flash below, but FIRST:
I am taking orders for these special name paintings, in the tradition of those you might find on a beach walk or touristy place somewhere, but mine are a bit more unhinged and boingy. A sweet treat for yourself or your friend or family member or beloved household. Need a gift for a lover this V-day? Lets entertwine your names together onto the page. Is there a favorite word or phrase you’d like to see in this style? Time to playy
The price range for these are a suggested $80-200 depending on the number of letters/names, and shipping is around $10-20 (within the US). You can pay whatever that makes sense for you, I just ask that it is a respectful amount that is within your ability!
I don’t usually do physical commissions but these have been a fun mind puzzle, so get one while U can! If you’d like one, pls email me to let me know:
1.The names or phrase you’d like painted
2. Relevant colors, favorite foods, animals, activities, hobbies, significant places.. anything I can work with to make it specific to u or ur person. The more details the better!
3. Frame size IF you have a specific dimension or range you’d like this painting to be. Otherwise I will use my own discretion.
4.The date you need it by
5.Mailing address
Be ready to send a $50 deposit via venmo to begin the painting, and the rest can be paid after it’s finished!
Ok onto tattooing! Here’s some fresh flash for your eyes- pardon the bad quality, I don’t yet have a scanner but it will be one of the first things I buy once I make some money. I’ve been stuck in a sort of Catch 22 loop with my hand injury, where I want to take a break from tattooing to focus on healing my hand, but I can’t afford to heal my hand unless I tattoo……. and of course I couldn’t help but make the most intricate designs ever…. well what can I say. I’m excited to work on these ideas and open to your ideas and working with any budget. As always, you can view all of my available flash on my website here.
I’ve also been diggin around on the Public Domain Image Archive. It’s so fun, here’s the link . I’d love to tattoo any of the imgs below, or use them as a jumping off point for any ideas that we can develop together.
These blot paintings were made by Justinus Kerner (1786–1862) long before the Rorscharch tests were developed. He had cataracts in his eyes so he tended to dribble excess ink onto the paper, which when folded, created faces that he called “daguerreotypes of the invisible world”.
More blots from a book called Gobolinks that explained how to make your own critters

The pieces below were made with a technique called blackwork, which has historically been linked to the tradition of jewlery making. Link to full article
Blackwork prints often signaled explicitly the technique’s origins in jewelry design. The earliest known print of this kind is a design for a ring and bezel. Insect and flower motifs are common in blackwork prints, as they are in jewelry. Many of these prints present designs for hypothetical objects like pendants, brooches, or earrings. As they imagined these objects that could be, but as yet did not exist, blackwork engravers were determined to make their own works — paper prints — precious and full of visual interest.
I loved admiring these prints. It would be fun to turn elements of these into tattoos (or even full compositions, if you’re feeling wild!)
